«Shadows of the Night» es un tema que se lanzó en septiembre de 1982 interpretado por la cantante de rock americana Pat Benatar . Salió a la venta a modo de sencillo extraido de su cuarto álbum de estudio «Get Nervous».
En el videoclip del tema protagonizado por la cantante estadounidense Pat Benatar se relata la historía de una trabajadora que, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, remacha en una de las muchas fábricas de armamento, mientras sueña con ser un as de la aviación y poder participar en el combate contra los nazis . Destacar la figura de el juez Reinhold a modo de piloto y a Bill Paxton como operador de radio nazi. Pat viaja a bordo de su avión «Midnight Angel»
Compositor
D.L. Byron compuso la canción explícitamente para el film Times Square [1980] que cuenta la historia de dos jóvenes fugitivos en la ciudad de Nueva York, pero finalmente no consiguió formar parte de la B.S.O del film , el tema se quedó fuera.

Antes de la versión realizada por Pat Benatar, el tema se lanzó a modo de single por Helen Schneider en 1981 para su álbum Schneider with the Kick.

En 1983, la versión de Rachel Sweet fue interpretada por el cantautor Randy VanWarmer en su álbum The Things That You Dream (83)
En 2005 fue incluida en un remix en un tema de Quarterflash («Harden My Heart») para el musical Rock of Ages. En la adaptación cinematográfica de 2012 de Rock of Ages, la canción es interpretada por Mary J. Blige.
En 2008, la interpretó Ashley Tisdale para la B.S.O de la película Picture This en televisión . Ese mismo año, otra versión de Paul Layton se incluyó en la B.S.O de la comedia independiente de zombis Dance of the Dead.
