Suzi … and Other Four Letter Words

Es el sexto disco grande de estudio de la cantante y bajista estadounidense con sede en Gran Bretaña, Suzi Quatro. En agosto de 2012, este álbum seguía siendo el de mayor éxito en Noruega (en el número 4) y el segundo en los Estados Unidos detrás de If You Knew Suzi…. (1978) que alcanzó el número 37 .

Después de haber tocado con éxito con un sonido más orientado al AOR en su anterior trabajo «If You Knew Suzi» , Suzi Quatro vuelve a sus raíces en 1979 con Suzi….And Other Four Letter Words (Suzi…y otras palabras de cuatro letras). Aunque no es un álbum completamente de hard rock, tiene muchos temas en esa dirección dónde el gran protagonista es el sonido de la guitarra.

Esta vez se halla una cierta presencia country rock en algunos de las temas, como en la versión de «Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)» de Steve Harley o en «American Lady», que combina el sonido de los teclados con los riffs de la acústica . Otros temas como «Tear Me Apart» se mantiene en la onda Glam rock … Mickie Most produce éste trabajo, y mantiene las líneas del track list mucho más suaves de lo habitual… nada que ver con el poderío de temas como Can the Can o «Devil Gate Drive» pero corren otros tiempos y la música disco se hace dueña de los locales y pubs nocturnos, el hard rock tiene que abrirse paso con más dificultad y aunque Aggro-Phobia no tiene esos temas frenéticos que ha venido defendiendo Suzi Quatro, es un disco bien hecho y melodico que los fans de la cantante querrán tener en sus manos.

«Devil Gate Drive» es otro de los temas de la cantante estadounidense que sale a modo de sencillo. Escrito y producido por el gran duo productivo : Nicky Chinn y Mike Chapman.

Alcanzó el número uno en el Reino Unido (por segunda vez consecutiva) , pasando dos semanas en lo más alto de la clasificación en febrero de 1974.

Fue reeditado para su álbum de 1995 «What Goes Around», siendo además el tema de apertura de éste trabajo. «Devil Gate Drive» fue cara B de la re edición en 1987, cuando «Can the Can» se convirtió en un hit menor.

Presentada en Televisión

La canción fue presentada en la serie televisiva Happy Days, durante la temporada 5, en el episodio «Fonzie and Leather Tuscadero, Part II».

«48 Crash» es el tercer single en solitario de Suzi Quatro y fue lanzado después de «Can the Can». Fue incluido en su álbum debut Suzi Quatro (conocido como Can the Can en Australia).

Más tarde el tema apareció también su álbum «What Goes Around»

El single llegó al número tres en Reino Unido en julio de 1973 y alcanzó el primer puesto en Australia durante una semana. También llegó al número dos en Alemania, y consiguió posicionarse de forma satisfactoria en otros países de Europa .

Este tercer single de Quatro fue lanzado después de que ella se mudara de los Estados Unidos a Gran Bretaña.

En los Estados Unidos ya había lanzado dos singles con la banda femenina The Pleasure Seekers, el grupo de garaje que formó junto a sus hermanas, que, por cierto , continuaron con su propio proyecto.

«Little Bitch Blue» cara b del single, fue escrita por Suzi y Len Tuckey (su guitarrista) y producida por Mike Chapman y Nicky Chinn.

Este tema , curiosamente , está dedicado a la andropausia …. en boca de Suzi que era una especie de fenómeno rompe -barreras machistas de su tiempo, cobraba aún una mayor controversia. Sin duda ese tandem del rock duro formado por Chapman / Chinn sabia jugar sus cartas a la perfección y utilizaban cualquier detalle para potenciar su producto…. con excelentes resultados!
