«Fox on the Run» es un tema original de la banda británica Sweet.
Se grabaron dos versiones distintas del tema: La primera (producida por Nicky Chinn y Mike Chapman) se incluyó en la edición europea del álbum Desolation Boulevard
En 1975 Sweet vuelven a los estudios con el objetivo de hacer algunos arreglos y re- grabar una nueva versión del tema ésta vez más orientada al pop que su predecesora, es ésta la versión más conocida y la que se incluyó en la edición de Desolation Boulevard. lanzada por Capitol Records
Primera Versión año 74:

Se grabó por primera vez en el 1974 , siendo además el primer sencillo que compusieron los miembros del grupo ( Mick Tucker, Brian Connolly, Steve Priest y Andy Scott) cuyos hits anteriores habían venido siendo obra de el tamden de productores / compositores de moda «Nicky Chinn y Mike Chapman«.
La segunda versión se lanzó en el año 1975
La letra está inspirada en una de las grupies que acompañaban al grupo en su giras
UN HIT DE EXITO MUNDIAL
El single del 75 se convirtió en el mayor éxito en ventas de la banda.
Alcanzó el nº 1 en Alemania, Dinamarca y Sudáfrica, el nº 2 en el Reino Unido, Irlanda, Noruega y los Países Bajos y el Nº3 en Austria y Suiza.
En Australia además de llegar a la cumbre de las listas se convierte en el single más vendido del año.
Llegó a ser Nº2 en Canadá y el Nº5 en Estados Unidos. Lo que se dice: un éxito a nivel mundial!!

The Ballroom Blitz (también conocida como Ballroom Blitz) es un tema compuesto por el gran tandem de productores / compositores de hits ; Nicky Chinn y Mike Chapman e interpretada originalmente por el grupo de rock británico Sweet. Forma parte del álbum que salió en 1974 bajo el nombre de Desolation Boulevard .
Sweet estaban compuestos en su formación original por: Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Mick Tucker y Frank Torpey, éste último solo permanecio en el grupo desde 1968 al 1969 siendo sustituido por Andy Scott.
The Ballroom Blitz
El tema se inspiró en un incidente acaecido durante el año 1973, cuando durante una actuación en la sala Kilmarnock, Escocia, los miembros del grupo se vieron obligados a abandonar el escenario ante un aluvión de botellas que arrojaron sobre ellos.
La versión que lanzó el sello Capitolrecords de éste disco (Desolation Boulevard) salió en los Estados Unidos en julio de 1975. siendo distinta de la edicción británica, incluía varios temas de su anterior álbum Sweet Fanny Adams, además de los sencillos «Ballroom Blitz»y «Fox on the Run».
La canción fue lanzada como single en 1973, alcanzando el puesto nº 1 en Australia y el nº 2 en las listas de singles del Reino Unido. En Estados Unidos alcanzó el éxito en 1975, llegando al puesto nº 5 y en Canadá al nº 1.
Su mejor canción en single al margen de las composiciones de los temas escritos por sus mentores sería «Fox on the run», una sensacional pieza que los llevó al número 2 en las listas británicas y que vendría incluida en «Desolation Boulevard»(1974), un disco en el cual aparecían también viejos éxitos del grupo como «Ballromm Blitz» o «The Six Teens».
El album tuvo una excelente acogida en gran parte del mundo.
